I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai (2023)
Bodie Kane is now well-known as a film professor and podcaster, but before that she was a charity case who wound up at a New England boarding school through the generosity of others. While there, her roommate was murdered and a school employee was convicted and put away for the crime. Given the chance to return to the school as a guest teacher, Bodie finds herself revisiting the case and what she thought to be true as a teenager.
People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry (2021)
Poppy and Alex are friends (I hope you’re suspicious already) who take an annual trip together — Vancouver Island, Tuscany, Palm Springs, Croatia (what happened in Croatia?). They met in college, found out they went to rival high schools, and realized that although they’re very different, they could let their guard down around each other. Though Alex now lives in their hometown and Poppy is in NYC, they’re as close as can be for long-distance friends. That is, until the trip to Croatia and the subsequent two years they go without speaking. When the chance to go on one more trip presents itself, and Poppy realizes that the one thing missing from her life is Alex, she throws herself into the project of winning back her friend.
I just finished Emily Henry's latest "Happy Place" and I think it's her best yet!
